NHS 111

The NHS Have introduced a new service, NHS 111. This has replaced the previous NHS Out of Hours Service which was called NHS Direct.
If you need medical assistance when the practice is closed you should dial 111. This number is free from all landlines and mobiles.

When you call NHS 111 your call will be answered by a highly  trained call handler (CH). The CH will record your details and lead you through an assesment based on your symptoms using the NHS Pathways clinical assesment tool.
At the end of the assesment the NHS Pathways system will identify the nature and urgency of your problem in order to enable the CH to direct you to the best locally available service.

This service is for URGENT help and advice only.

The service is not designed for the request of repeat prescriptions, test results or making an appointment at your GP. Please see the following pages for more information on these services:

If you have a life threatening medical emergency please dial 999.

If your query is related directly to a life-threatening or emergency situation, you should telephone 999 immediately and ask for an ambulance.
